The only person I’ve met who’s seen Local Hero before I recommended it to them was a film appreciation instructor.

It grossed less than $6 million in the U.S. and didn’t fare much better internationally so I’m guessing you haven’t seen it either.

Local Hero was released in 1983 so I imagine everyone’s had an opportunity to check it out. It’s briefly been in the rotation on different cable stations but never gained traction as a must-see classic. You may ask, “If it it’s so good, why isn’t it universally recognized for its excellence?”
